Red Moon is a story of the power of nature, the essence of destiny and the bond between all living things. Mox is a family dog that has recently been freed from his pen by Daeden, a local stray dog. As Mox explores his independence he begins having horrific visions of the world in chaos beneath a haunting red moon. The two dogs then embark on an adventure full of dangerous enemies, powerful allies and mystical sages of the animal world to find out what the visions mean.
Red Moon is a script I've been working on for a few years now. I began this project with the intentions of animating the full-length feature myself but I'm currently working with a friend of mine to first introduce it as a graphic novel.

In the tradition of Watership Down and The Secret of N.I.M.H., Red Moon tells the story of Man's impending doom through the eyes of the animals.

Mox, the story's reluctant hero, is a stray Schnauzer mix recently freed from his domestic confines. Once out he begins having nightmares and visions involving the destruction of Man's World. He's soon thrust into a cross-country adventure full of danger and discovery in search of the meaning of the visions.
Daeden, a Blue Heeler mix, is Mox's best friend and mentor throughout their journey. Also a stray for most of his adult life, Daeden's street smarts and connections with the animals beyond Man's Cities proves helpful with Mox and the strange behavior that comes with the visions. However, Daeden holds a grudge against Man and his ways with the animal world that could hinder the resolution of Mox's visions and what they mean...to all of us.

On A Personal Note...
I've been working on this story for a long time now and it really has a lot of meaning for me. It encompasses everything that I care about in a story: characters you care for, that are funny and serious and have a few regular problems to deal with on top of the extraordinary circumstances at hand, its epic and far-reaching but is centered on how it effects the intimate lives of the characters involved, and it's got tense action wrapped in mythological mystery. I think it has meaning and a moral to tell and I think a lot of people will enjoy reading or watching just as entertainment as much as I did writing, drawing and directing it.
My current ambition with Red Moon is to translate it to a graphic novel. My initial intention was to write, direct and animate the full-length feature which you can see the trailer for above. The trailer took me about 7 months to produce but I'm confident that I could produce the movie myself within about a year. In the same amount of time, however, I can produce the graphic novel and get it out to a lot more people. Hopefully that will get the attention of a few animation producers, too.
